The session included specialized training on the scope and importance of iNaturalistGT as a citizen science tool both nationally and internationally.

A practical workshop was also conducted, where attendees created their accounts and joined the project:
Biodiversity of Izabal

Second Session – June 18, 2025

Setal Private Nature Reserve

Participants: 25 people

The main activity was a field visit led by MSc. Javier Benítez (ECOSUR, Mexico), who presented a research project on the reproductive ecology of Crocodylus acutus.

During the hike along the reserve’s trails, participants applied what they had learned, recording species observations using iNaturalistGT.

These sessions reaffirmed the inter-institutional commitment to citizen science as a key tool for conserving Izabal’s ecosystems.
